The Knysna Kart Grand Prix charted new territory in South African karting in 2011 by partially running under floodlights. Located on the spectacular Thesen Island Harbour Town, the race offered a mini "Singapore Grand Prix" atmosphere by running into the night.
It proved to be a spectacular event with wonderful views over the Knysna Heads, yachts competing on the Estuary, and motor boats moored in the small craft harbour alongside the track. Competitors loved it, with comments such as "If there is one karting event you have to do in your lifetime, this is it" common place.
Practice for the event starts on Friday 11 May with qualifying and racing taking place on Saturday 12 May.
The action starts at 14h00 each day and runs to 19h30 on Friday and 21h00 on Saturday.
Entry for spectators is free of charge with refreshments and food available from the restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
EVENT DATES: 11 - 12 MAY 2012
