Kart racing is often called the Formula One nursery. Drivers such as Michael Schumacher and almost every Formula 1 driver started their driving careers in Karting. It is fast, fun, challenging and very exciting to watch.
The Knysna Kart Grand Prix is unique in South Africa with its “Singapore Grand Prix” atmosphere, night racing with floodlights, yachts in the Knysna lagoon as your backdrop and superb restaurants alongside the track. Thesen Harbour Town adds to the glamour and fun of the event. Top restaurants and entertainment venues surround the track such as The Lofts, The Turbine Hotel and Water Club, Tapas, Sirocco, Quay 4 and Pannekoek will keep spectators satisfied with good food and Mitchell’s beer while the karts race past. So there is no excuse for going hungry or thirsty while enjoying the action! The races form part of the 2012 EP Regional Karting Championship.
The speed of these little rockets on tiny wheels is quite awesome, and drivers range in age from 5 to 55. Competition is fierce and the racing is on the edge with wheel to wheel battles being the order of the day. Spectators have an excellent view of the track and excitement comes free!
The practice takes place on Friday 11th May and racing on Saturday 12th May. There is full program and plenty to watch and enjoy.
