- For more than a decade, the annual Simola Hillclimb has been regarded as South Africa’s premier motorsport lifestyle event, and the 2024 edition will be no different, making it the must-attend event of the year for enthusiasts.
Located in the scenic Garden Route town of Knysna, the 14th edition of the Simola Hillclimb takes place from 2 to 5 May 2024 and following the global success of this year’s event promises even more spectacular cars, esteemed drivers and non-stop action to enthral fans, young and old.
The Simola Hillclimb is promoting next year’s event at the Festival of Motoring at Kyalami this weekend with high speed track experiences on offer to attendees. To mark the start of the track experience promotion, ticket sales open on Friday morning 25 August with a special discount of 10% on all tickets excluding hospitality.
All tickets are now for sale via the event website (www.simolahillclimb.com) with the special discount running until midnight Sunday 27th August. To redeem your discount simply enter the coupon code FOM2023.
“The Simola Hillclimb is one of the most accessible and exciting automotive lifestyle events on the calendar, and our goal is always to deliver a truly world-class showcase of the very best cars and drivers in one of the most beautiful locations in the country,” says Ian Shrosbree, MD of Knysna Speed Festival which owns the Simola Hillclimb.
Spectators have the option to build their own Simola Hillclimb packages with optional upgrades and extras, including Pit Access tickets, Grandstand seating and VIP Parking.
General Entry tickets are R160 per day when purchased online, or R180 at the gate, while the 3 Day Pass encompasses all the action from Friday to Sunday and offers exceptional value at R400 online, or R470 at the gate.
Pit Access tickets are limited in the interests of safety, and allow fans to get into the heart of the bustling pitlane action to view the cars and drivers up close. Tickets cost R250 per day, or R700 for the 3 Day Pass (or R275 and R775 respectively at the gate, although these are likely to sell out well before the event as they did in 2023). VIP parking near the pitlane is recommended for those who have upgraded their tickets to include Pit Access, and can only be secured online at R135 per day.
The Turn 2 Grandstand provides a superb vantage point to see the cars blasting off the start line, through the first two corners and up the first part of the steep Simola Hill. Tickets are priced at R250 per day or R700 for the 3 Day Pass (or R275 and R775 respectively at the gate).
Due to the Turn 2 Grandstand being sold out in 2023 the Organiser has added an additional grandstand for 2024. The Esses has always been a popular viewing area, so much so that many fans think it’s the best spot on the track. Situated between turns 4 and 5, this new grandstand offers you a birds eye view of the cars emerging from under the bridge, powering up the second straight, before pitching into turn 4 and then disappearing around turn 5. It’s the perfect place to see the cars flat out and the ability and precision of the drivers up close. This 150-seater grandstand offers very limited seating, so book your seat now! The Esses Grandstand Upgrade Tickets are priced at R250 per day or R700 for the 3 Day Pass (or R275 and R775 respectively at the gate).
“Our exclusive VIP hospitality packages provide the ultimate five-star Simola Hillclimb experience, and are usually sold out well before the event so book early to avoid missing out,” Shrosbree says.
The all-inclusive Le Mans Hospitality Lounge tickets, which sold out well before the 2023 event, include first-class catering, a spectacular viewing point overlooking the start line, as well as General Entry and Pit Access. Prices start at R3 000 per person for Classic Car Friday, and R3 850 each for King of the Hill on Saturday or Sunday. Two-day tickets are available for Saturday and Sunday at R7 150 per person, or R9 000 each for the full three-day programme. The VIP hospitality cost for children under the age of 12 is R950 per day.
The 14th edition of the Simola Hillclimb takes place from 2 to 5 May 2024.
