King of the Hill is the feature event for the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, which takes place from 4 to 7 May, 2017. For this year’s eighth edition, the organisers have added a whole new level of intrigue and excitement with the introduction of three separate King of the Hill categories with equal status for standard road and supercars, modified saloon cars, and single-seater or sports racing cars.
Two thrilling days of unprecedented motor racing action culminated in the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb crowning is first-ever two-time King of the Hill winner, as Franco Scribante produced a dominant victory and set an all-new record of 38.646 sec.
“Bigger and better” may be an over-used marketing catchphrase, but it’s a perfectly apt description of the adrenaline-charged, heart-racing scene that is set to unfold when the King of the Hill explodes into action at the 2016 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb on 7 and 8 May.
Desmond Gutzeit proved the class of the field on the 2015 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, winning the highly anticipated King of the Hill challenge today by setting a new lap record of 40.148 sec on his very last run.
One hill, two days, 83 very fast cars, 802 runs up the Simola hill and one new King of the Hill was crowned in Knysna on Sunday afternoon.
