The 15th edition of the Simola Hillclimb has officially kicked off, and although the competitive action is sure to become hot and furious, Classic Car Friday commenced in cold and damp conditions.
The competitors are using the opening practices to familiarize themselves with the 1.9km Simola Hill course, and determine the grip levels in these slippery conditions.
Andre Bezuidenhout set the fastest time in the opening session of 49.366 seconds in his 1976 Lola T460, 1.2 seconds ahead of Charles Arton (1979 March 79a).
