2026 Simola Hillclimb – King of The Hill – Qualifying 4

It’s the final day of the King of the Hill challenge at the 2026 Simola Hillclimb. The morning started with the initial warm-up run, which already saw drama unfold as one of the crowd favourites, Reghard Roets, was forced to retire with gearbox trouble on the BB Motorsport Nissan R35 GT-R.

Pieter Zeelie’s team has lowered the ride height at the rear of the car to improve grip, and it paid off as he went three-tenths faster on his first qualifying run of the day, on 38.424 seconds. However, it was Silvio Scribante who set the fastest Modified Saloon Car time in Q4, enjoying his best run thus far on 38.280 seconds in the Audi RS3.

Franco Scribante was 0.4 sec quicker during the first section of the 1.9 km Simola Hillclimb course and reached a top speed of 245 km/h at the end of the long uphill straight. He lost around six-tenths through the twisty top-end section, and had to settle with second place for this session on 38.421 seconds in the Nissan R35 GT-R. Aldo Scribante continues to impress with the first-ever competitive outing for his highly modified Audi TT, dipping below 40 seconds for the first time (39.927 sec) – even though his run was disqualified for a track limits violation.

Robert Wolk is quietly chipping away at his times in the Gould GR55, and continues to dominate the single-seater category. His Q4 time of 35.170 seconds was his best run to date and, even with old tyres, is now within one second of Andre Bezuidenhout’s current record of 34.161 seconds. Wolk achieved an average speed, from a standing start, of 194.484 km/h on the 1.9 km Simola Hill course – and there’s still more to come!

Devin Robertson went seven-tenths quicker than yesterday in the Radical Pro Sport to claim second in the category, with Ian Scofield remaining in third place (41.219 sec) in the Formula Ford. Rui Campos (Shelby CanAm) is normally a top contender, but he is struggling with old tyres that are no longer in production, and he hasn’t managed to find a suitable replacement. His best time so far is 43.011 seconds from Q2, having gone 0.4 slower this morning.

In the Road Car and Supercar category, Cristiano Verolini topped the session in the BMW M4 (44.266 sec) after Clint Weston’s run of 42.546 sec in the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance was deleted for exceeding the track limits. German GT racing ace Jens Klingmann suffered the same fate in the BMW M5 after recording his best time so far of 44.656 seconds.
