KNYSNA, South Africa, 8 November 2017 – Motoring and motorsport enthusiasts can secure their place to watch the spectacular 2018 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb with online ticket sales now officially open. For fans that are quick off the line, there’s the added benefit of the Early Bird Special that runs until 31 December, offering inflation-beating tickets at 2017 prices!

The Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, which takes place in Knysna from 4 to 6 May 2018, is widely regarded as South Africa’s premier annual motoring and motorsport lifestyle event – and rightly so, with this award-winning event having attracted over 15 000 spectators this year, with the privilege of witnessing some of the best cars and drivers in action over three exhilarating days.

“This is the earliest we have opened ticket sales for the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, and is indicative of the high level of interest amongst fans,” says Ian Shrosbree, director of the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb. “We are also offering tickets for the remainder of the year at 2017 prices with the Early Bird Special. This gives spectators good value and reason to buy their tickets well in advance.”

Tickets can be purchased online at www.jaguarsimolahillclimb.com, with the Early Bird Special applying to General Entry, Pit Access and Weekend Passes. The extremely popular Pit Access tickets – which get fans close-up and personal with the cars and drivers – are limited to 400 people per day, so it’s advisable buy them soon before they’re all snapped up.

For the VIP treatment, the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb offers an enticing range of hospitality packages that get you close to the action with magnificent views of the Hillclimb route, combined with tantalising food and drinks.

“The hospitality packages have become extremely popular, and we already have a significant level of interest in the exclusive Le Mans VIP Lounge that enjoys prime position just after the start line and puts you in the heart of the action,” Shrosbree states.

With a limit of 250 guests per day, the Le Mans VIP Lounge Package includes a welcome drink on arrival, VIP parking and shuttle service, entrance to the event, all-day access to the pits, private viewing deck and a free programme. Guests are treated to morning and afternoon snacks along with lunch, unlimited tea, coffee, beer, wine, water and soft drinks throughout the day.

For 2018 the organisers are introducing The Piston Club, a relaxed and casual venue that offers an elevated vantage point to watch the exciting action as it unfolds. Located above the high-speed ‘Esses’ near the top of the course, it is one of the Hillclimb’s most popular spectator points and is renowned for producing plenty thrills and spills as the drivers push the limits.

Limited to just 100 guests per day, the package includes entrance to the event, parking close to the facility, all-day pit access, a free programme, a light lunch including dessert, along with hot and cold beverages.

The organisers also suggest prompt booking of accommodation for the 2018 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb. “As a result of the fires that ravaged Knysna earlier this year, accommodation will be at a premium for the 2018 event, so we are advising visitors to make bookings as soon as possible to avoid disappointment,” Shrosbree states.

“We have a list of accommodation partners listed on the Hillclimb’s website, as well as a link to the official Knysna Tourism booking portal. We strongly recommend that competitors and spectators don’t delay in securing their accommodation.”

Innovative cashless system for 2018

The 2018 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb will be introducing an innovative new cashless system, with visitors using the Access wristband to transact within the entire event. From merchandise to food and beverages, all purchases will be available at the tap of the wrist.

“We have opted for a new cashless payment system to make the Hillclimb experience easier, faster and safer,” Shrosbree says. “This introduces an entirely new level of convenience and a hassle-free experience for everyone attending the event, while also making it a lot simpler for the suppliers and vendors that support the Hillclimb.”

Visitors and participants will be able to pre-load their cashless event account with credits online via a credit card or EFT payment, and then collect the wristband at the entrance and have it seamlessly paired to their account.

Top-ups can easily be done via a mobile phone during the event, or with cash or a credit card at one of the Get Loaded stations located at the Hillclimb. Left-over funds can be automatically cashed out 48 to 72 hours after the event.
