The sun is starting to come out in bursts, but the 1.9km Simola Hill remains very slick and slippery. With the competitors starting to push during the final practice, Franco Scribante went off in the Esses in his 1971 Chevron B19 and spun into the dirt – seemingly escaping with only cosmetic damage. Hopefully he will be back in action for qualifying.
Andre Bezuidenhout topped the Practice 3 times, going 1.5 seconds faster than the previous session in his Lola T460 on 47.818 sec – around 5 seconds slower than last year’s dry conditions. Charles Arton was second quickest in his 1979 March 79a (48.533 sec), ahead of Ian Schofield in his 1977 March 77b (49.598 sec).
