KNYSNA, South Africa, 11 November 2019 – Online ticket sales for the 2020 Simola Hillclimb are now available, giving early-bird fans the opportunity to secure their seats at South Africa’s premier motorsport and motoring lifestyle event, which takes place from 7 to 10 May next year.
The Simola Hillclimb has grown dramatically in stature, competitiveness and appeal over the past decade, and the 11th edition next year promises to be better than ever. However, with record crowds and limited availability for the prized Pit Access tickets and VIP Hospitality packages, spectators are urged to purchase their tickets early via the event website (www.simolahillclimb.com) for this exceptional showcase of some of the most spectacular cars and drivers in the country.
“We are delighted with the growth and success of the Simola Hillclimb over the past 10 years, and in 2019 we welcomed more than 17 000 local and international visitors, which was a record turn-out for this event,” says Ian Shrosbree, managing director of Knysna Speed Festival. “With competitors continually upping the ante each year with wilder, faster and more spectacular machinery, the Simola Hillclimb continues gaining popularity in South Africa, and around the world.
“Following the great success of the 2019 event, we expect next year to be even bigger, so fans are advised to book their tickets early on the Simola Hillclimb website. This is particularly important for enthusiasts who want to get close to the cars and drivers. As always, there are a limited number of Pit Access tickets and these always sell out very quickly.
“We have designed the online ticket system to allow people to build their own custom packages, starting out with the General Entry, then having the option of adding upgrades such as Pit Access, Grandstand seating and Pit Priority Parking,” Shrosbree adds. “There are single entry tickets, as well as three-day passes that offer the best value for money.”
As an added incentive for early online bookings, the organisers have kept the online ticket prices unchanged for the third consecutive year. At R120 per person for General Entry and access to all public viewing areas, this represents a R30 saving compared to the prices at the gate. Children under 12 years old gain free General Entry when accompanied by an adult, but are required to pay full price for upgrades.
For Classic Car Friday, visitors who purchase a minimum of three tickets benefit from a further discount. However, for spectators who want to soak up all three days of exhilarating Hillclimb action, the Three-Day Pass represents even better value at R300 when purchased online as against R400 at the gate.
The limited Pit Access tickets are guaranteed to sell out fast, so be sure to select this option when processing your ticket upgrades via the step-by-step online system at a price of R170 per day, or a discounted price of R450 for the Three-Day Pass – the latter a R100 saving over the standard gate rate.
As one of the most spectacular viewing points for the Simola Hillclimb, extending from the start line all the way up the hill to the Turn 3 Bridge, the Turn 2 Grandstand is an ideal vantage point covering approximately half of the 1.9 km Hillclimb course. Seating is limited and available at a preferential online rate of R200 for single-day passes, or R500 for the full three days. Pit Priority Parking tickets can only be purchased online due to the restricted number of bays.
A variety of VIP Hospitality packages are also available. The popular Piston Club will be relocated closer to Gasoline Alley, providing a new angle to watch the cars powering their way from Bridge Corner, along the straight and into the challenging Esses.
The exclusive Le Mans VIP Hospitality suite is located on the start straight and provides an exhilarating view of the pit complex and the action-packed start line. Sumptuous meals and beverages are included in the ticket prices, making this the ultimate way to relax and enjoy every moment of the Simola Hillclimb.
The cars roar into life on Classic Car Friday, which brings some of the world’s most iconic road and race cars together in a dazzling display of automotive excellence spanning almost a century.
King of the Hill takes place on Saturday and Sunday, unleashing the big guns as some of the best drivers and most radical cars in the country compete for glory in three distinct categories: Road-going Saloon Cars and Supercars; Modified Saloon Cars; and Single-Seaters and Sports Cars.
