2023 SHC King of the Hill – Practice 2

Single Seaters and Sports Prototypes:

Practice 2 has been completed, and the times are already tumbling – fast! Andre Bezuidenhout slashed 1.3 seconds from his P1 run on 35.942 seconds, with Robert Wolk emulating his rival’s gains, posting a time of 37.904 seconds. Andrew Rackstraw went third fastest (41.833 sec), going just over a second quicker than P1 in his 2004 Formula VW.

Modified Saloon Cars:

Reghard Roets signalled his serious intent to go all-out for the win this year, leading the charge by going half a second quicker (38.981 sec), and coming within 0.8 sec of the current record. He was followed by 2021 champion Pieter Zeelie in his extensively updated 2002 Toyota MR2 Super GT (41.244 sec), while Franco Scribante cut 1.3 seconds off his P1 time, crossing the line in 41.360 seconds. Petter Solberg had his first run on new tyres, completing the 1.9 km run 0.7 sec slower than his previous time on 45.515 sec.

Road-going Saloon Cars & Supercars:

Reigning two-time King of the Hill JP van der Walt was dealing with an earth wire issue this morning on the 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S, but it appears that the issue is resolved and he blasted to the top of the time sheets on 45.383 seconds – a mere 0.8 sec off his winning time from last year. He was followed by Clint Weston (46.473 sec) and Garth Mackintosh (46.847 sec).
