2024 Simola Hillclimb – Classic Car Friday Practice 3

The Classic Car Friday action is getting hotter along with the rapidly rising temperature, which is set to reach 35 deg C today!

The second practice was cancelled due to the programme running late, so it was straight into Practice 3 for the competitors. There were two hair-raising moments during the session, with Jennifer Abbot spinning in the Esses in her 1970 Porsche 914 GT.

It was an even more dramatic and scarier moment for Graeme Nathan, as he locked up the brakes in the 1972 BMW 3.0 CSi going into Turn 3, which sent him wide onto the dirt and had him performing a smoky full 360-degree pirouette into the banking on the left – seemingly without any significant damage.

Franco Scribante was quickest yet again, 0.7 sec faster than his first run with a time of 42.733 sec, with Andre Bezuidenhout shaving around 1.5 sec to post 43.758 sec. Charles Arton followed suit in third (45.317), ahead of Ian Schofield who returned to the fray with the hastily repaired March 77B (47.902).

Rui Campos was the fastest tin-top competitor in both sessions in the 1974 Porsche 911 RSR, completing the 1.9km Simola Hillclimb run in 48.817 seconds in P3.
