It’s three for three, as Franco Scribante rounded off the final practice session with his fastest time yet of 41.769 seconds. His best time to date in the iconic Chevron B19 was 41.432 seconds in 2016, however this was before the track limits were introduced. In the current format, Scribante’s fastest official time was in 2024 on 41.796 seconds in the Class Finals – so he has already surpassed that time by 0.027 sec, achieving a standing start average speed of 163.758 km/h. “The track is so much faster this year with the new road surface and the bumps before Turn 3 gone, so the times will definitely get faster and faster today,” Scribante said.
Ian Schofield clawed back another full second to wrap off practice in the runner-up spot on 42.858 seconds, with Andre Bezuidenhout just over a tenth of a second behind him in third (42.914 sec), having only used old tyres so far on the Lola T460.
Craig Czank returned to fourth place (46.896 sec) with the 4WD restored on his R32 GT-R, ahead of Robert Wolk (Van Diemen Formula Ford) on 48.935 seconds, Rui Campos in the Porsche 911 RSR (49.236 sec) and Reghard Roets in the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R (49.526 sec).
