Robert Wolk continues to set the pace at the front of the field, going 2.4 seconds faster in the P2 session on 37.215 seconds. Franco Scribante posted a time of 40.001 seconds, ahead of Pieter Zeelie (40.109 sec) and Reghard Roets (Nissan R35 GT-R) on 41.068 seconds.
Aldo Scribante was fifth (41.852 sec) in his Audi TT which was built in just 100 days specifically for this year’s Simola Hillclimb. Wade van Zummeren set a time of 42.199 seconds in his wild Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R, ahead of Connor Kilbride (42.716 sec) on his Simola Hillclimb debut in the Ligier JS53 Evo2 sports prototype race car.
Clint Weston went two-tenths faster (42.718 sec), with his class rival, German GT racing ace Jens Klingmann, second fastest amongst the standard production cars in the latest hybrid-powered BMW M5 (47.023 sec). The opening practice runs are the factory BMW driver’s first sightings of the tight and technical 1.9 km Simola Hillclimb course, and he has already slashed four seconds off his P1 time.
