Last few days to enter the 11th Simola Hillclimb

• Simola Hillclimb competitor entry application process closes on 31 May
• Full field expected once again
• Event takes place in Knysna from 2 to 5 September 2021

KNYSNA, South Africa, 27 May 2021
Applications to enter the 11th running of the Simola Hillclimb on 3-5 September 2021 are streaming in steadily with organisers once again expecting the event to be oversubscribed by the time the application process closes on 31 May.

Due to its unrivalled popularity, the Simola Hillclimb remains an invitational event. The ‘Request for Invitation’ process opened on 16 April with competitors invited to submit their intent to enter.

Once the application process closes on 31 May the full list of applications will be evaluated by the organisers, who will then issue the formal invitations to the successful applicants to compete at Simola this September.

“While applications have been slower than in the previous few years due to infection fears, travel restrictions and financial distress around COVID-19, the uptake has been encouraging with the 100 mark being realised within a few days of opening,” says Geoff Goddard, Sporting Director of the Simola Hillclimb.

“We are now not far off our maximum number of 148 competitors, and we are confident that we will have a greater number of applications than we can accommodate. Traditionally, there are always a significant number of applicants that leave it to the last minute before entering, and this year with the COVID-19 uncertainty that exists this has been even more prevalent than normal with other events that have already run.”

“Part of the organising team’s objective is to keep the show fresh, and this includes showcasing cars and drivers that have not participated previously. Therefore, as wide a spread of applications as possible is encouraged, and every applicant is assured that they will be evaluated fairly according to the Simola Hillclimb criteria,” explained Goddard.

With the cut-off time for applications looming the organisers are encouraging competitors wanting to be part of the event to enter at before close of business on the 31st.

With more than a decade of history to prove the point, the Simola Hillclimb is motorsport’s most unique event for the vast and diverse range of iconic cars and legendary drivers it attracts from all eras competing for glory on the challenging 1.9 km Simola Hill course – thus making it the must-attend event of the year for enthusiasts and competitors alike.
