2024 Simola Hillclimb – Saturday Practice 3

It was a clean run for most of the competitors in P3, with Dawie Joubert ending the session on the top of the timesheets with an even faster run of 39.040 seconds (average speed 175.205 km/h), with Charl Joubert 0.6 sec adrift to go second in class B for Modified Saloon Cars.

2021 winner Pieter Zeelie (2002 Toyota MR2 Super GT) was third for the session on 40.639 seconds, finishing ahead of Reghard Roets who had a wild sideways moment in the Esses and lost significant time.

Wolk continues chipping away in class C, going just four-hundredths quicker than his previous run (39.099 sec at a shade under 175 km/h average speed), with Campos improving by 0.7 seconds (42.093 seconds), ahead of third-placed Ian Schofield (2018 Mygale SJ Formula Ford) on 42.403 seconds.

JP van der Walt’s assault on the Road Car and Supercar class A record continues unabated, powering his way to an astonishing time of 42.789 seconds – achieving an average speed from a standing start of 159.854 km/h with a standard production car!

Cristiano Verolini (2023 BMW M4 Competition xDrive) was second in class A (45.136 sec), ahead of Clint Weston in the Mercedes-AMG GT63 E-Peformance hybrid (45.701 sec).

There have been two withdrawals – Johan van den Berg (#50) who had the P1 incident, along with Jimmy Giannoccaro (#34) due to an electronic failure on his BMW Z4 GT3.
